First he turned against the undercover video work of James O’Keefe – after championing the ACORN undercover video sting and getting huge ratings off them. Then he turned against Andrew Breitbart – by lying about his actions in the Sherrod incident and refusing Breitbart’s requests to defend himself on his radio and TV shows.
Now Glenn Beck, the shock jock-turned-multimedia-star-turned-historian-cum-evangelist-of-sorts pulls the race card… against the Tea Party!

Glenn Beck Pulls Race Card Against Tea Party!
“If you have a big government progressive, or a big government progressive in Obama… ask yourself this, Tea Party: is it about Obama’s race? Because that’s what it appears to be to me. If you’re against him but you’re for this guy, it must be about race. I mean, what else is it? It’s the policies that matter.”

Come on now, really? I think it was pretty clear what Beck was saying when he was calling out the hypocrisy in opposing one Progressive while supporting another. Though, I do agree it MIGHT be a tad extreme, being that NOBODY can be as bad as Obama- but Beck wants to see a true constitutional conservative elected (despite the fact that Beck contradicts himself by opposing Paul in the same breath). It was pretty obvious that he was appealing to the common sense in people- so that they would see that they would be no better than those that blindly elected Obama if they vote for Gingrich- because the record shows Gingrich to be a fraud as a conservative.

You have it correct Meno. I started to get upset, then thought about the situation. We protested for small govt. Why would we push for Newt?

This is for sure a stretch on Beck’s part… but he does bring up a great point. Newt really has never been a Tea Party candidate… and now that the Tea Party is supporting him? It doesn’t make sense to me… but i don’t think that Beck was right.

Newt is the best of what we got left. He is the most small gov guy who has a record of forcing welfare reform, and balancing budgets. He is the only one left who can actually take on Obama and win. Sorry, Bachmann and Santorum alienate over half the electorate and would never win. If Gingrich can keep his sh_t together, stay focused and not get too big headed, he can do great things for our country. I believe has has matured and evolved as we all do as we get older.

I liked Beck for quite awhile. The complete breakdown of Teddy Roosevelt’s record and Newt’s “progressive” record here: http://www.politijim.com/2011/12/is-newt-fat-white-obama-progressive.html

Beck’s premise seems to have been that Newt and Obama are indistinguishable except by race. While I don’t accept his premise, based on it, he is challenging Gingrich supporters to justify their support for Newt on other than racial grounds. While I can think of several differences, [party, experience, marriages, religions] and Beck’s still a Palin-bashing sob-sister, he didn’t call the Tea Party racist, he just insinuated the rhetorical alternative that race could be the only reason for supporting Newt. Come to think of it, that’s ‘argument from intimidation’, ‘only racists support Newt Gingrich’. Sigh.
